St. Paul & the Broken Bones claim their first No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay chart with their new single, “Sushi and Coca-Cola,” from their self-titled album that was released on Friday (October 10). This is the band’s first No. 1 hit on any Billboard songs chart, and comes more than 11 years after their initial Adult Alternative Airplay appearance in May 2014 with “Call Me.” This marks the longest wait for a first No. 1 on the chart since The Beatles, who went nearly 28 years between “Free as a Bird” in 1996 (shortly after the chart launched) and their No. 1 hit, “Now and Then,” in 2023. “Sushi and Coca-Cola” also recently reached a peak of No. 40 on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, surpassing their previous best of No. 44 with their 2018 hit, “Apollo.” St. Paul & the Broken Bones are the third act to top the Adult Alternative chart for the very first time in 2025, following Role Model and Royel Otis.
