John Bonham to be honored in his hometown

Legendary Led Zepplin drummer John Bonham is being memorialized in his hometown. A permanent bronze statue, created by sculpture Mark Richards, has been erected in the town of Redditch to honor the musician’s 70th birthday and a celebration is being planned for September 22, 2018.

Called John Bonham: A Celebration, the festival will feature a stellar lineup of rock and blues artists and special guests. Tickets and merchandise are available for purchase, and the event is marked for those 18 and older. Only 1000 tickets will be sold for this event and proceeds will benefit the Teenage Cancer Trust West Midlands.

According to John Bonham’s official website, the Teenage Cancer Trust is vital in helping teens fight cancer:

“Young people with cancer need specialised nursing and emotional support. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity meeting this critical need. Right now Teenage Cancer Trust can only help half of young people with cancer with their world-leading nursing. The money raised from ‘John Bonham A Celebration’ will be used to help fund vital services for young people before, during and after cancer treatment across the West Midlands. With the provision of specialised outreach nurses and more, this event could make a huge difference, all in memory of John Bonham.”

While this event is happening in England, it would make for an epic concert trip to remember. Tickets are available now.
